sections well before the due date Wednesday evening of finals week\/week 11.\u00a0 For this assignment, you are selecting a substantial amount of your course work (quiz answers, media pieces) to match alt=\"6a1 Marine Life\">\n<p>Functionally, most Protists are microscopic aquatic producers or consumers.\u00a0 The decomposer species are the relatively uncommon terrestrial slime molds found in forests.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Most protist producers in saltwater and freshwater are microscopic algae and diatoms.\u00a0 Dinoflagellates in saltwater are associated with \"red tides\" of toxic chemicals, but some species play an important mutualistic role with coral animals as we will examine in <a href=\"http:\/\/biotas.org\/index.php\/envirobio\/handling-care\/organism-care\/coral-reef\/#\" data-wplink-edit=\"true\">Guide 6B<\/a>.<\/p>\n<img freshwater consumer protists include paramecia and amoeba.\u00a0 In saltwater there are many consumer species, including <em>Formanifera<\/em> that look like tiny snail shells, but are not that most people are familiar with is algae.\u00a0 Algae is found everywhere there is moisture.\u00a0 If you leave a glass of water out in most parts of the world, algal spores moving in the air will land in the water and produce a visible colony in a week or so.\u00a0 Algae sometimes lives inside of other organisms, like the algae in lichen fungi.<\/p>\n<p>We were at the coast taking videos and photos for this module, and found a slimy coating of algae on a sidewalk.\u00a0 Can't pass this up!<\/p>\n<img src=\"http:\/\/biotas.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/a1-algae-les.jpg\" title=\"6a1 title=\"6a1 Marine Life\" alt=\"6a1 Marine Life\">\n<p>Most marine producers are tiny, but there several notable macro(large) producers including the seaweeds.<\/p> <p>Seaweeds are not plants, they are actually large algae.\u00a0 You can tell by squishing fresh seaweed between your fingers: it squishes easily unlike the more structured plants.<\/p> <p>Kelp, algae and diatoms are all classified in <em>Domain Eukaryota<\/em> and <em>Kingdom<\/em> _____.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">If you have searched the beach after a storm, you have probably seen many of the macroscopic producers
